Teen Club “Beach Party”—Friday, September 26 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.—Summer may be officially over but teens in grades 7 through 12 are invited to revisit summer with a “beach party” that will include a picnic, games, and plenty of fun. Celebrate Books with Bite @ Your Library® during Teen Read Week 2008—Area teens will be reading for the fun of it as the Grundy Library celebrates the eleventh annual Teen Read Week(TM), October 12 through the 18, 2008. They join thousands of other libraries, schools and bookstores across the country who are encouraging teens to celebrate this year’s theme, "Books with Bite @ your library®." This year’s theme encourages teens to read a wide variety of books and graphic novels, from animals to vampires to cooking, just "for the fun of it."

Teen Club Halloween Costume Party—Friday, October 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.—For teens in grades 7-12—Enjoy an evening of Halloween fun! You must be wearing a costume and register to attend! Sign-up at the library’s check-out desk or by calling 215-788-7891 ext.5

Teen Club Holiday Celebration—Friday, December 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.—Join us for a holiday party. Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome. Sign-up by calling 215-788-7891 ext. 5 or at the library’s check-out desk.

Teen Advisory Board—Want to make a difference @ the library and in your community? Join the Teen Advisory Board (TAB). For teens in grades 9-12. Meets the second Thursday of each month @ 7:00 p.m. and after the Teen Club meetings. Help make the library an even better place for teens, volunteer opportunities, and a great place to make new friends. Looks great on your resume too! Call Mrs. Hickey @ 215-788- 7891 ext. 16 .

Homework Center—We can help with your homework!—The Grundy Library Homework Center is a place for children in grades 1-6 to come after school for homework assistance. Computers, crafts and special programs are also offered after children have completed their homework. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Registration forms and further information are available at the library. Registration is limited.

Every Child Ready to Read

Preschool Story Hour—Each Tuesday— First Session September 16 through October 14 and Second Session November 4 through December 2— 11:00 a.m.— ages 3-5 years. Young children play, listen to stories, learn rhymes, sing and have fun while learning the basic stepping stones to becoming a reader. Parents are treated to a brief session each week that will highlight ways to promote the day’s featured skill at home. Registration begins September 2 and October 20. Register when visiting the library or calling 215-788-7891 ext. 5.

Story and Rhyme Time for Tiny Tots—Each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.—September 17 through October 15 and November 5 through December 3—While seated on a parent’s or caregiver’s lap, babies and toddlers enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays and rhymes. For ages birth through 35 months. Registration begins September 2 and October 20. Register when visiting the library or calling 215-788-7891 ext. 5.

Family First Mondays—Set aside the first Monday of each month to enjoy a night of fun family activities—6:30pm for families with children ages 2 and up. Stories, songs, crafts and special guest entertainers throughout the year. You may sign up for the entire year and receive a reminder call, or you may register each month on the Monday before the program. Brian Richards’ Beginner Magic Workshop—Saturday, November 8—1:00pm—ages 6-12—Join in the fun and learn magic tricks from a professional magician! Brian Richards was so much fun at our summer programs that we invited him back! Registration begins October 20. Register when visiting the library or by calling 215-788-7891 ext. 5.
